Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr spoke with David Letterman in a rare joint interview for the 50th anniversary commemoration of The Beatles historic appearance on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show,’ a television special on CBS. The two surviving members of the legendary group returned to where it all began in America. It was on February 9, 1964 that they made an appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show before a television audience of 74 million. The CBS special is appropriately named ‘The Beatles: The Night That Changed America’ to chronicle the iconic moment in history that it was. The historic performance was but two days after their arrival in America at JFK Airport. In retrospect it has been called the British Invasion. The Beatles were thus the first invaders. But back then they were simply that group from Liverpool, England originally comprised of John Lennon, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.
