Britney Spears on Justin Timberlake, Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Lorde and Others Who Inspire Her

Britney Spears opened up about her musical inspirations and more in an interview she gave coinciding with the start of her ‘Piece of Me’ two-year headlining residency in Las Vegas. Britney Spears spoke with USA Today backstage prior to her inaugural performance at Planet Hollywood Casino & Resort and had plenty to say about her musical contemporaries even as she remains among them, having just released an album weeks ago. As for the artists who inspire her, she mentioned New Zealand singer Lorde, “who is really different and cool” She went on to say, “This generation is hungry for new sounds. Bruno Mars is so different and fresh” — and mentioning her former boyfriend casually in the mix — “Justin Timberlake is, too. It’s inspiring for me, and it makes people eager to listen to music, which helps everyone.” As for Miley Cyrus she said “She’s cool, she’s fun to be around.
