The former child star did not appear in court on Friday (Jan. 10) when her attorney, Gerald Shargel, filed an affidavit saying that she has agreed to continue her counseling in hopes of seeing the case dropped. After leaving the courthouse, Shargel told reporters, "She's making progress and we're very pleased," but that she has a "long road" ahead of her.
Bynes, 27, was charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession in May of 2013 after she allegedly tossed a bong out the window of her 36th-floor Manhattan apartment. She recently completed a six-month rehab stint at an inpatient facility in Malibu after being involuntarily hospitalized on a 5150 hold for starting a small fire.
She has continued her recovery with outpatient treatment and is reconnecting with her family. Bynes has expressed interest in pursuing a career in fashion.
