“SNL 40″ celebrated the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Live with a star-studded tribute on the stage of Studio 8H. Now the critics have weighed in. How does one celebrate 40 years of television history in one night when those same 40 years have so deeply shaped our pop culture and so many cast members of the show have gone on to become bona fide stars in their own right? Well, NBC started with a star-studded celebrity guest list and an hour of red carpet arrivals at 30 Rockefeller Center Plaza in New York City even before the show began. On stage as well as in the audience we had a diversity of guests to mark the landmark anniversary of the program that Lorne Michaels (picture above) created in 1975 and remains its executive producer.
