Robin Thicke and Paula Patton have announced that they have split after almost nine years of marriage. The ‘Blurred Lines’ R&B music superstar and the actress were a longtime couple since their teenage years. The couple released a statement exclusively to People Magazine: “We will always love each other and be best friends, however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time.” Robin Thicke, 36, and Paula Patton, 38 got married in 2005, and have a young son together, Julian Fuego who was born in April 2010 and who recently had a cameo appearance in Thicke’s music video for ‘Give It 2 U.’ Over the years, both have spoken passionately about their longtime relationship which began when they were in their mid-teens and met at a teen club in Los Angeles. Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' Single Is 'Definitely Edgier'

Producer/songwriter tells MTV News the 'sexier' track, which drops Monday, will 'definitely surprise people.'

While fans will have to wait until Monday to hear the song, MTV News got a little bit of a tease from one of the guys who worked with the teen sensation on the track. "This record is different in a very good way," "BF" co-producer and co-writer Mason Levy told MTV News. "Definitely edgier, it's more grown-up, it's more developed and it's sexier. It's just like really dope. It's gonna definitely surprise people. "It's more of something that everyone can drive around and listen to it, whether they're guys or girls or older," he said. Bieber has said he wanted to grow up with this album and the Mike Posner-produced song. His model was the post-'NSYNC Justin Timberlake. From the sound of it, he might have hit that nail on the head. "It's more just the verses [that he raps on] and the rest he's singing," he said. "It's dope. It's hip-hop, but with great acoustic R&B, pop guitar with very hip-hop, clubby drums and really dope Justin Timberlake-y melodies." The creation of the song was pretty organic, Levy said. "We got together and started messing around. It was one of those things where you didn't have to struggle too much. It just kind of happened," he said. "He always goes in and does melodies and he's involved in lyrics and everything." "Boyfriend" will set the tone for the album, set for release later this year. "There's definitely lots of diversity on the album. There's really ballad-y stuff and there's more stuff like this. I would say ['Boyfriend'] is harder," Levy added. "He's very open to everything." Bill Clinton Praises Ukrainian Protesters During Hollywood Charity Event

CULVER CITY, Calif. -- Former President Bill Clinton continued to voice support for the non-violent Ukrainian protesters at a Hollywood charity awards ceremony on Thursday, linking their peaceful actions to the theme of the evening: "unite4:humanity."

"When the Ukrainians stormed into that presidential residence, nobody took a painting. Nobody destroyed a statue," said Clinton, praising them for peacefully seizing the luxury estate of Ukraine's now-former president and guarding the property against vandalism and looting. "The only thing they did with anything that wasn't theirs was to take some of the golf balls out and hit them onto the golf course."

"The fact that it was a peaceful revolution in the face of 100 people, at least, being gunned down in the street," continued the former president. "It's profoundly moving -- but it's what happens next that matters. Will they unite for humanity?"

Clinton delivered his remarks to a star-studded audience upon receiving the unity recognition award, given to him by the foundation unite4:good at their inaugural awards ceremony celebrating acts of service and charity from around the world.

The awards, a grand affair for the recently launched foundation, were held in a sumptuously converted soundstage on the Sony Pictures Studios lot in Culver City and included performances by singers Demi Lovato and Alicia Keys.

The foundation also honored Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Selena Gomez, as well as Lovato and Keys, for their work in various charities and initiatives. Presenters included Forest Whitaker, Sean Penn, Eva Longoria, Wilmer Valderrama and Jada Pinkett Smith.

As the ceremony's first presenter, actress and activist Jane Fonda set the tone for the evening by saying that celebrities had a responsibility to use their star power for good.

"Service should be thought of as the rent we pay for life," said Fonda, and in that vein several of the celebrities who received awards seemed uncomfortable taking the spotlight for their activism.

"You've made a huge mistake giving me this," said De Niro after Penn presented him with the creative commitment in film award. "It would have made a lot more sense if I were here presenting it to Sean Penn -- there's no one I know who walks the philanthropic walk more than Sean."

Host Andy Samberg was similarly hesitant to bask in the spotlight, as evidenced by his two-word acceptance speech: "Thank you." The brief speech belied the big plans he has for the $25,000 award, funded by Johnnie Walker Scotch Whisky -- it is all going to the Berkeley Unified School District's special education program, where his mother taught for 25 years.

"I don't think former presidents should get awards of any kind," said Clinton at one point.

But the event wasn't simply a celebration of Hollywood celebrities. The awards also recognized people like David Schwartz, the founder of Real Food Challenge, a sustainable food activist network. Schwartz was one of five non-profit leaders on stage that night who was awarded $25,000 for their full-time advocacy work.

"A grant like this means a lot," said Schwartz to The Huffington Post. "It's helping us mobilize, inspire and challenge a new generation of sustainable food advocates." Schwartz was also humbled and inspired by the celebrities who were honored that night.

"[Bill] Clinton blew me away, Selena Gomez blew me away, Alicia Keys blew me away," said Schwartz. "These are people who are really committed to real justice in this world."

In addition to Schwartz, Kathy Eldon of Creative Visions Productions, Dr. Flint Fowler of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis and Jane Hoffman of the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals also received $25,000 each. Cherie Jamason of the Food Bank of Northern Nevada was awarded a $50,000 Impact grant.

The event was a collaboration by unite4:good, a foundation that funds charities around the world, and Variety, a weekly entertainment trade magazine.

He really loves <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, even if she's threatening his position as an album-sales record holder. "If I have to confess, I have to confess that I have told a few people not to go and buy Adele's album because I don't want her to go and break my record," he joked to <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43207/" target="_blank">Capital FM</a> in the U.K. The 21 singer's record-setting album has come close to beating the record held by his own album Confessions for <a href="/news/articles/1676522/adele-usher-best-sales-record.jhtml">most albums sold in one year</a>. "No, actually, I love her. Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years. So now, guys, don't go and buy that album right now." But if he can't beat her, he'll join her. He hinted in the same interview that he would love the chance to collaborate with the broken-hearted songstress. "I think the world deserves an <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43230/" target="_blank">Usher and Adele record</a>," he said. "That's what I think." Well, Usher will get his chance to prove his chart dominance once again when he drops his new album later this year. He's currently out promoting its lead single, the sexy, sultry, Diplo-produced <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/16/usher-diplo-climax-love-affair-song/">"Climax."</a> The singer released a video for the track earlier this month. The sexy clip follows two lovers engaged in a hot, steamy love affair. Usher wrestles with the ramifications of their relationship, pondering it all in his car, with a gun not far away. Leading to the video's climax, Usher watches his lady with her other man, then runs in the house, fires off his gun and runs away. Viewers are left wondering if it was nothing more than a daydream as the video ends with the singer once again sitting in his car, still reflecting, as he pulls away from the supposed crime scene.

The show honors various branches of the media that represent the LGBT community. The show was hosted by "Glee" stars Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera and included guest spots from Dakota Fanning, "Jersey Shore" nice guy <a href="/news/articles/1672152/vinny-jersey-shore-bullying-disconnected.jhtml">Vinny Guadagnino,</a>  talk show host Wendy Williams, "Top Chef" star Padma Lakshmi and Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:731259/cp~vid%3D731259%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A731259" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center> Broadway veteran Bernadette Peters and TV star John Stamos presented the Vito Russo Award to Craig Zadan and Neil Meron for their work on the NBC musical series "Smash." The Russo award is presented annually to openly LGBT media professionals who have made a difference in promoting equality. In accepting the award, Meron said the pair, who were also behind the Oscar-winning movie musical "Chicago" and "Hairspray," have spent a long time trying to "fight, persuade and manipulate" Hollywood into including LGB characters in their work. Also on hand was openly gay 17-year-old high school student Katy Butler, who received a special award from Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein for her work in launching a Change.org campaign last month to argue for a <a href="http://act.mtv.com/posts/bully-needs-more-sigs-so-join-justin-bieber-demi-lovato-ellen-more-in-the-rating-fight/"_blank">PG-13 rating</a> for the upcoming documentary, "Bully." Other winners included: "Dancing With the Stars" (Outstanding Reality Program), for including the story line of transgender dancer Chaz Bono last season, the HBO film "Cinema Verite" (Outstanding TV Movie or Mini Series), a film focused on the life of a black lesbian teenager, "Pariah" (Outstanding Film -- Limited Release), "Battle Against Bullying" from ABC World News with Diane Sawyer (Outstanding TV Journalism Segment) and the "Batwoman" comic book by J.H. Williams III and W. Haden Blackman (Outstanding Comic Book). More awards will be handed out on April 21 in Los Angeles and June 2 in San Francisco.

She recalled meeting the singer for the first time 15 years ago, just as she was breaking into the industry herself. <div class="player-placeholder right" title="Whitney Houston: Life And Music Of An Icon" id="id:1679030" width="240" height="211"></div> "The loss of Whitney Houston is painful. I remember meeting Whitney for the first time when I was 15. She was the ultimate legend. The ultimate woman. Not only was she confident, poised, stunningly beautiful and intelligent, but she was sincere and kind," she said in a statement to MTV News. "She took the time to make everyone feel like they were very important to her." Beyoncé continued in the statement that Houston's killer vocal abilities helped make her the superstar she was. "I, like every singer, always wanted to be just like her. Her voice was perfect. Strong but soothing. Soulful and classic. Her vibrato, her cadence, her control. So many of my life's memories are attached to a Whitney Houston song," she said. "She is our queen and she opened doors and provided a blueprint for all of us. God bless her." Her statement comes on the same day that Houston will be remembered at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Lady Gaga Collaborator Jonas Akerlund Expects 'Great' Things From Her

'She can probably do anything she wants,' 'Paparazzi' and 'Telephone' director tells us at SXSW.

After the mostly positive reviews of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/lady_gaga/artist.jhtml">Lady Gaga</a>'s first music-video directorial effort on <a href="/news/articles/1675270/lady-gaga-marry-the-night-music-video.jhtml">"Marry the Night"</a>. It's fair to assume that we fans can expect more Gaga-directed clips in the near future. When MTV News caught up with her "Paparazzi" and "Telephone" <a href="/news/articles/1633818/the-man-behind-lady-gagas-telephone-video-jonas-akerlund.jhtml">director Jonas Åkerlund</a> recently during his SXSW appearance for his new ensemble dark comedy "Small Apartments," we asked him for his thoughts on Gaga's future as a director, should she choose to direct all of her videos from here on out. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:748102/cp~id%3D1680857%26vid%3D748102%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A748102" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></center> "She can probably do anything she wants," he said. "So that's probably going to be great." And would Åkerlund make himself available for advice, should Gaga ever be in need of it? "Of course. I would never turn her down," he said, at which point his "Apartments" star and funnyman Matt Lucas ("Bridesmaids") asked a question of his own. "Is her real name Lady Gaga?" "Yes," Åkerlund answered with a smile. "Wow," Lucas responded with astonishment. "There's a fact for you MTV fans." Although Åkerlund didn't mention any more work with Gaga at this time, the busy director is still fully in the mix of the world of music videos. "I may do a couple music videos and I've done quite a few since 'Small Apartments,' actually. The last one I did was a Duran Duran video, but there's a few coming up too." "Are you going to do the Osmonds video?" Lucas asked cheekily. "That's what they're asking." "Maybe," Åkerlund responded, playing along with Lucas' joke. "I'm hoping to." For her part, Gaga has said that she's always been heavily involved in the creative processes behind all her work, including the direction of her music videos. "I know it's my directorial debut, but I've really created everything I've ever done in my career," she said. "I really didn't do anything differently on this video that I didn't do on the 'Telephone' video or the 'Paparazzi' video or the 'Bad Romance' video. I hope my fans will take from this the progression that you have to trust yourself to make mistakes."

Lena Dunham Approves Of Adam Driver's 'Star Wars' Rumor

Adam Driver was thrust into a galaxy far, far away on Wednesday after Variety reported that the "Girls" star is negotiating to play the villain in "Star Wars: Episode VII." While that still hasn't been confirmed in any official capacity, one person who took it upon herself to offer Driver some tweets of support was Lena Dunham, Driver's co-star and boss on the HBO series.

We're VERY proud of Adam Driver re: Star Wars. He's about to rip a hole in da force. Is that a thing? I guess I should see those movies?

Shia LaBeouf Shows off His Chic Physique

Hitting the West Hollywood, CA scene to put some gas in the car, Shia LaBeouf strutted his stuff with some interesting fashion choices today (February 26).

Standing tall in a loose maroon tee, the "Nymphomaniac" star walked along in a pair of brown skinnies and high-top boots, giving the cameras a serious face as he plodded back to his car.

In related news, the 27-year-old's strange behavior in recent months has garnered attention from news agencies and the Hollywood circle, and may be part of a new plan to get rid of paparazzi lawsuits.

CNN Opinion highlighted a letter written by controversial star Alec Baldwin regarding the increasingly intrusive media that said, "Everyone has a camera in their pocket...You can tell [paparazzi] want to get into it with you. Some bump into me or block the entrance to my apartment..."

The opinion column used Baldwin's short temper and anger at the media to suggest that, since everyone has cameras now, why not take pictures and video of those who take pictures and video of you?

If this is done, then celebrities could catch pesky paparazzi in the act, turning the tables on irritating media incursions to prove celebrity innocence, which could explain Shia's strange appearances as attempts to get back at critics and media correspondents.

He?s never hosted an episode of ?Saturday Night Live,? but that?s all going to change for Jim Parsons this weekend.

The ?Big Bang Theory? star will head up the show this Saturday (March 1) with musical guest Beck, and he filmed a series of promotional clips with cast member Bobby Moynihan to share the good news.

Predictably, Moynihan used ?Bazinga!? in excess during one of the spots, while also filming a non-ice ice dancing routine in another.

Of the hosting gig, Jim previously shared, ?I don?t see how you can be living in America and not be a student of the show. It?s kind of part of our general lexicon here. I love live. We tape [Big Bang] live, and while you do get a chance to go over your mistakes there, should you make one, we are doing it live. And I love theater. I've done theater all my life. My No-Holds-Barred Conversation With Actor Harry Lennix

Tonight on PBS, I'm joined by film, television, stage actor and co-star of The Blacklist, Harry Lennix. His other acting credits include Man of Steel and the Oscar-winning film, Ray, for which he earned a SAG Award nomination. Lennix is co-founder of Legacy Productions, which is dedicated to promoting significant works about the African American experience. In a no-holds-barred conversation, he expounds on everything from religion to the plight of young black men and the state of the entertainment industry.

In the clip below, Lennix shares why he views what many have called "the year of the black film" as "appalling."
