Matthew McConaughey won the Best Actor Oscar for his role in ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and delivered an uplifting acceptance speech at the 86th Academy Awards. The 44-year-old actor Matthew McConaughey famously lost 40 pounds for his portrayal of the real-life AIDS patient Ron Woodroof in the 1980s-era ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and despite a strong field which included Leo DiCaprio in ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ and Chiwetel Ejiofor in ’12 Years a Slave’ he was a favorite to win the Best Actor Oscar. And win he did in a role which revealed the depth of his acting talent not previously seen in the many light, romantic comedies which had launched him to stardom.
