Jennifer Hudson's Emotional Testimony On Family Murders

It's been over three years since three of her family members were murdered and on Monday (April 23), Jennifer Hudson took the witness stand to give an emotional first testimony in the high profile case against William Balfour.

Hudson was the first witness to open the murder case in the Chicago court against her former brother-in-law, who is accused of killing her mother, brother and nephew in 2008.

The "American Idol" alum held back tears as she told the courtroom her family's concerns about her sister, Julia Hudson, marrying the former gang member, saying, ?None of us wanted her to marry him, we did not like how he treated her, and I didn?t like how he treated my nephew.?

At the time of the October shootings, prosecutors say Balfour was estranged from Hudson's sister and flew into a jealous rage, fatally shooting the singer's mother, Darnell Donerson, brother, James and Hudson's 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Balfour has entered a not guilty plea to three counts of first-degree murder and, If convicted, he faces a mandatory life sentence.
