U2 Takes the Glastonbury Stage

One of the more anticipated acts featured during the weekend long musical celebration, U2 took the stage to the thrill of the audience at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival in Glastonbury, England on Friday night (June 24).

With Bono doing what he does best, the heralded entertainer treated the Worthy Farm crowd to a full range of hits including "Beautiful Day" and "Bloody Sunday" while joined by bandmates The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen, Jr..

The festival, which started in 1970 when several hundred hippies paid 1 GBP to watch Marc Bolan, has grown into Europe's largest music festival attracting more than 175,000 people over five days.

Coming up this weekend, the lineup at Glastonbury includes Coldplay as Saturday's headliner while Beyonce will close the annual event out on Sunday night.
