Usher Says The World 'Deserves' An Usher/Adele Collaboration
'Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years,' singer says of Adele catching up with his chart record.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> has a confession to make. He really loves <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/adele/artist.jhtml">Adele</a>, even if she's threatening his position as an album-sales record holder. </P><P> </P><P>"If I have to confess, I have to confess that I have told a few people not to go and buy Adele's album because I don't want her to go and break my record," he joked to <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43207/" target="_blank">Capital FM</a> in the U.K. The <i>21</i> singer's record-setting album has come close to beating the record held by his own album <i>Confessions</i> for <a href="/news/articles/1676522/adele-usher-best-sales-record.jhtml">most albums sold in one year</a>. </P><P> </P><P>"No, actually, I love her. Unfortunately, she's the closest to breaking my record for the last 10 years. So now, guys, don't go and buy that album right now." </P><P> </P><P>But if he can't beat her, he'll join her. He hinted in the same interview that he would love the chance to collaborate with the broken-hearted songstress. "I think the world deserves an <a href="http://www.pressparty.com/pg/newsdesk/usher/view/43230/" target="_blank">Usher and Adele record</a>," he said. "That's what I think." </P><P> </P><P>Well, Usher will get his chance to prove his chart dominance once again when he drops his new album later this year. He's currently out promoting its lead single, the sexy, sultry, Diplo-produced <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/16/usher-diplo-climax-love-affair-song/">"Climax."</a> </P><P> </P><P>The singer released a video for the track earlier this month. The sexy clip follows two lovers engaged in a hot, steamy love affair. Usher wrestles with the ramifications of their relationship, pondering it all in his car, with a gun not far away. </P><P> </P><P>Leading to the video's climax, Usher watches his lady with her other man, then runs in the house, fires off his gun and runs away. Viewers are left wondering if it was nothing more than a daydream as the video ends with the singer once again sitting in his car, still reflecting, as he pulls away from the supposed crime scene.</p>

Jay-Z didn't seem to mind all the attention. Chris Rock Stopped Playing Colleges Because They're 'Too Conservative'
Comedian and actor Chris Rock told New York magazine he stopped playing colleges because they've gotten "way too conservative."
Writer Frank Rich asked Rock about some of his recent, controversial jokes about the Boston Marathon, 9/11 and the World Trade Center, and whether the backlash could hurt his career. Diving deeper, Rich asked Rock about his thoughts on students' attempt to block Bill Maher from speaking on campus due to his comments on HBO about Muslims. That's when Rock said college campuses in America were too conservative, though, not necessarily in a political way:
Rich asked when Rock started to notice that.
"Probably a couple of tours ago," Rock responded. "It was just like, This is not as much fun as it used to be. I remember talking to George Carlin before he died and him saying the exact same thing."
College students at various campuses protested to remove several commencement speakers in the spring of 2014. Civil liberty advocates, progressives, and staffers at HuffPost criticized students for being misguided in their activism against the would-be guest speakers.

Not in their political views -- not like they?re voting Republican -- but in their social views and their willingness not to offend anybody. Kids raised on a culture of ?We?re not going to keep score in the game because we don?t want anybody to lose.? Or just ignoring race to a fault. You can?t say ?the black kid over there.? No, it?s ?the guy with the red shoes.? You can?t even be offensive on your way to being inoffensive.

Usher's Next Album 'Soulful, Catchy,' Taio Cruz Teases
'He always wants there to be the soul in there,' Cruz tells MTV News about his 'Without You' collaborator.

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a> is hard at work on his next album. Set to work with fellow hitmaker <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/cruz__taio/artist.jhtml">Taio Cruz</a>, the two already cooked up some magic with their <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/guetta_david/artist.jhtml">David Guetta</a> anthem <a href="/news/articles/1670301/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">"Without You,"</a> and it seems they are hoping to recapture that spirit for Usher's follow-up to 2010's <i>Raymond v. Raymond</i>. </P><P> </P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Taio Cruz's Collabo With Usher Is A 'Secret'" id="vid:717257" width="240" height="211"></div><p> </P><P> </P><P>"I saw Usher a few times, but I spoke to him at length at David [Guetta]'s house when we were in Ibiza [Spain]," he told MTV News in L.A. after his Jingle Ball set. "He has very specific ideas of where he wants to go musically and sound-wise." </P><P> </P><P>Given that Usher has never shied away from exposing a bit of himself in his music, while also keeping the party going, Cruz wants to make sure they can connect the mind, body and soul for this next release. "He always wants there to be the soul in there," he explained. "I'm kind of, not the opposite, but I'm always like, 'Let's get straight to the point and be really clear with the message and be simple.' </P><P> </P><P>"So we try to match those two worlds together: being soulful and, at the same time, catchy," he added. </P><P> </P><P>Cruz can't yet discuss what they're working on: Besides "Without You," he said, "Everything else is secret." </P><P> </P><P>Usher said he was drawn to the <a href="/news/articles/1674782/usher-david-guetta-without-you.jhtml">Guetta hit</a> because he connected to it emotionally, explaining to MTV News recently what an important part that plays in his musical philosophy. "I think the world wanted a record like that. That [song] really spoke to the journey that I've actually been on in the last three years," he said. "Traveling all around the world, music sounds different.
