'Catching Fire' Countdown: What To Watch While You Wait

With the 'Hunger Games' sequel more than a year away, here's where you can catch its stars in the meantime.

November 23, 2013, is just a year and a half away, but it might as well be a lifetime from now considering how antsy we are to feast on "The Hunger Games" sequel "Catching Fire." Progress is no doubt beginning on the follow-up (director Francis Lawrence was confirmed last week by Lionsgate), but there's still much to be done before the film is big-screen ready for next, next Thanksgiving. In the meantime, we'll pass the torturous days and months by gripping our Peeta pillow extra tight and gorging on the stars' slew of interim offerings—Jennifer Lawrence and her Panem peeps are in-demand actors, after all! Here's your guide to the actors' upcoming projects:

Jennifer Lawrence
If only Lawrence could swipe Katniss' bow and arrow for use in her horror flick "The House at the End of the Street," out September 21. Lawrence plays a teen who moves next door to a home where a grisly murder took place. She befriends the surviving son and, well, things don't go so well for her after that.

Two months later, Lawrence will appear alongside Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro in the big-screen adaptation of Matthew Quick's novel "The Silver Linings Playbook." She reportedly plays a widow trying to seduce Cooper's character, who has recently been released from a mental institution.

The Cooper coupling will continue with the period drama "Serena" (a role originally intended for Angelina Jolie), after the thriller "Devil You Know" makes its debut.

Josh Hutcherson
After bonding with Liam on the set of "The Hunger Games," Hutcherson will star alongside the other Hemsworth brother in the November 21 release "Red Dawn," which finds a group of teenagers trying to protect their town from invading North Korean soldiers.

The baker's son has a couple of other projects in the pipeline (neither of which have official release dates), but keep an eye out for "7 Days in Havana" and "The Forger."

Liam Hemsworth
The younger Hemsworth will flex his action muscles throughout the rest of 2012 and into the new year. First up is "AWOL" (scheduled for release sometime this year), which follows a Vietnam soldier who defects to win back the love of his life. The film co-stars Teresa Palmer, Aimee Teegarden and Chris Lowell.

If that doesn't sound harrowing enough, Hemsworth will team up with every action star ever (read: Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Chuck Norris) for the splashy sequel "The Expendables 2," out August 17. His list of in-the-works flicks also includes "Paranoia," "Timeless" and "Arabian Nights."

Elizabeth Banks
Fans won't have to wait long to see Elizabeth Banks grace the silver screen once again. The bubbly blond dons a pregnancy belly for next week's "What to Expect When You're Expecting," based on the iconic self-help book. (That woman loves her some adaptations, huh?)

Shortly after (June 29, to be exact), Banks will portray long-lost sister to Chris Pine, who must find his secret sibling to deliver a $150,000 inheritance in the film "People Like Us."

Woody Harrelson
The word "eclectic" comes to mind when summing up Woody Harrelson's CV — and it's not an ill-advised adjective to describe his list of upcoming projects either. "Seven Psychopaths," out in limited release November 2, follows a struggling screenwriter who gets caught up in the criminal underworld after his weird friend kidnaps a mobster's dog.

Then there's 2013's "Now You See Me," in which a group of illusionists pull heists as part of their act and give the spoils to their audiences. (Uh, do you guys need extras?) The January release co-stars Mark Ruffalo, Dave Franco and Morgan Freeman.

Bristol Palin Slams President Obama For Supporting Gay Marriage

In a typed out message on her blog, Bristol Palin slammed President Barack Obama for announcing his support of gay marriage.

The former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant honed in on the fact that Obama's decision for the announcement was influenced by his teenage daughters writing in part on her blog, ?While it?s great to listen to your kids? ideas, there?s also a time when dads simply need to be dads. In this case, it would?ve been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that?s not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage.?

The 21-year-old continued, ?As great as her friends may be ? we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids? worldview.?

Using a bit of snarky sarcasm Palin added, ?In this situation, it was the other way around. I guess we can be glad that Malia and Sasha aren?t younger, or perhaps today?s press conference might have been about appointing Dora the Explorer as Attorney General because of her success in stopping Swiper the Fox.?

Bristol wrapped up the message titled "Hail to the Chiefs ? Malia and Sasha Obama" by concluding, ?Sometimes dads should lead their family in the right ways of thinking. In this case, it would?ve been nice if the President would?ve been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of ?Glee.??

Jermaine Paul Crowned On 'The Voice' Finale

Justin Bieber, Flo Rida, Lady Antebellum and Hall & Oates also perform leading up to Team Blake's victory.
By James Dinh

<P>Universal Records added a new artist to their roster Tuesday night (May 8) when Jermaine Paul of Team Blake was named season-two champ during the <a href="/news/articles/1684663/the-voice-final-four.jhtml">finale of "The Voice,"</a> which also featured some major star power appearances from the likes of Justin Bieber and Flo Rida.</P><P>"I just wanted to say thank you for everyone that voted for me," the former Alicia Keys backup singer said on the sparkler-filled stage, before giving credit to his wife, children and parents. "God bless y'all, man. Nobody but Jesus, man, nobody!"</P><P>It was a close call, as host Carson Daly revealed just moments before the announcement that only a mere 4 percentage points separated Paul and runner-up Juliet Simms.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Jermaine Paul No Longer A Background Singer On 'The Voice'" id="vid:767221" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Kicking off the two-hour episode was a brief contestant introduction with Paul, Simms, singer/songwriter Tony Lucca and classically trained Chris Mann, before segueing into a recap of the previous night's live final round and some thoughts from each of the judges about their contestant.</P><P>But it wouldn't be a big ol' finale without some collaborative performances from our season's favorite former contestants, so Paul rallied up Jamar Rogers, James Massone and Pip to lead the pack on a cover of the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." It was a solid effort that most importantly proved why Paul stands as the last remaining singer of the bunch and won the contest.</P><P>After a montage of silly bloopers from the panel (proving that Xtina is surely more than just full of sass) and a quick commercial break, Simms of Team Cee Lo joined Flo Rida for a medley of his singles "Whistle" and "Wild One." Missing in action was singer Sia, but Simms took over for the Australian crooner's chorus, temporarily walked away from her rock element and jumped to some fist-pumping Top 40.</P><P>Team Xtina's Chris Mann brought back his lady favorites Lindsey Pavao and Katrina Parker for an appropriate cover of the Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony," and the couple complemented Mann's lively onstage urgency.</P><P>It may have been an intense evening for the contestants, but "The Voice" kept the show lighthearted by dedicating an entire segment to Shelton and Levine's on-camera bromance with highlights of their cutesy interactions. "It is clear that Adam has a crush on me, and Miranda is a little bit jealous, but I think it's cute," Shelton joked about wife Miranda Lambert.</P><P>Hall &amp; Oates were up next to sing their classic "Rich Girl" alongside the men of the evening: Tony, Jermaine and Chris. As the duo jammed out to their 1977 hit, the trio of finalists crooned on the side as background vocalists to the iconic act.</P><P>Living out one more performance were former contestants Naia Kete, Cheesa, Kim Yarbrough and Sera Hill with a performance of "Superstition" by Stevie Wonder. Full of energy, attitude and smiles, the quartet blended their distinctive voices for a great number. But it wasn't enough to outshine Juliet Simms' group performance alongside Erin Willett, RaeLynn and Jamar Rogers for a cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends." It was the best of the all-star performances and brought all the judges to their feet for standing ovations.</P><P>NBC doubled up when they brought some buzz for the season finale of "Parks and Recreation" as Cee Lo took to the set of the comedy sitcom and had the cast cater to his guest appearance and, of course, the famed swivel chair.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Justin Bieber Brings 'Boyfriend' To 'The Voice'" id="vid:767222" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>Lady Antebellum repped for country music when they appeared for a performance of "Wanted You More," but the biggest rumble of cheers went to Justin Bieber, who served up a flashy debut <a href="/news/articles/1683335/justin-bieber-believe-the-voice.jhtml">performance of his hit "Boyfriend."</a> As teased a few weeks ago, the teen superstar took the stage for an elaborate production of his lead single. Entering through the floor, the pop singer walked down an alley of bright lights and spent much of the number as the center of attention for a crew of dancers with misty smoke seeping in between his choreography.</P><P>Before the Biebster took center stage, Team Adam's Tony Lucca re-emerged for his main number of the night with Jordis Unga to sing Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way." It was a friendly throwback to the competition's battle rounds, as the two played off each other's lines and catered to different parts of the stage before joining together for an ending hug.</P><P><i>What did you think of Jermaine winning "The Voice"? Let us know in the comments!</i></P><P><center><a href="http://www.mtv.com/photos/?fid=1617615"><img src="http://www.mtv.com/news/photos/s/spotted/banner/spotted.jpg"></a></center></p>

Usher Says 'Scream' Is 'Just In Time For Summer'

Following 'Climax,' singer tells MTV News his latest single 'represents the other side' of Looking for Myself album.
By Jocelyn Vena

<P>Bumping beats, sexy lyrics and <a href="/music/artist/usher/artist.jhtml">Usher</a>'s signature R&B bad-boy swagger can only mean one thing: the singer has once again hooked up with superstar pop producer Max Martin. Their latest collaboration, <a href="/news/articles/1683947/usher-scream.jhtml">"Scream,"</a> picks up where "DJ Got Us Fallin' in Love" left off back in 2010.</P><P>Usher used <i>that</i> track to convince us to go home with him after a dizzying night of partying, and for "Scream," he's got us back at his pad and he's rocking our world, one fist-pumping moment at a time. While he opted to slow it down on <a href="http://rapfix.mtv.com/2012/02/16/usher-diplo-climax-love-affair-song">"Climax,"</a> Usher is back to large-scale dance tracks on <a href="/news/articles/1682140/usher-looking-for-myself.jhtml"><i>Looking for Myself</i></a>'s second single. And, he told MTV News, both tracks reflect the sound of the album.</P><P><div style="background-color:#000000;width:428px;"><div style="padding:4px;"><iframe src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:764219/cp~vid%3D764219%26instance%3Dmtv%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A764219" width="420" height="236" frameborder="0"></iframe></div></div></P><P>"This album has many different views and many different perspectives," he told MTV News while rehearsing for his one-night run as the lead in NYC's off-Broadway spectacle "Fuerza Bruta," which also served as a place for Usher to debut the album ahead of its release. "And me and Max Martin, we've had success together in the past, and this was a record I felt represented the other side of the [album]."</P><P>"Scream" and "Climax" truly are polar-opposite tracks. Where "Climax" sears and broods, "Scream" celebrates and dances. Usher is excited for the chance to show all those sides with the two lead singles from the June 12 release.</P><P>"Whereas the first song was a little bit more artistic and a little bit more soulful, and it has done everything, it probably exceeded my expectations, I mean, from the moment I was able to give it away. I was able to kind of be reintroduced in a way musically, and thank you to [producer] Diplo, but 'Scream' is really like the next step. It's just in time for summer and the type of experience that I want people to get out of the album."</P><P>But the Atlanta-bred singer notes that the album can't be defined just by "Climax" or "Scream." There's a lot there to keep fans tuning in. "It's a ton of other experiences and a ton of other walks ... as I've had this long journey over the last year [and] every bit of what I've experienced I've put into a creative, artistic way," he said.</P><P>As for the video, well, that still has to be shot, but he joked that "Fuerza Bruta" might serve as the perfect backdrop for the clip &#8212; or maybe not. "We might be shooting it while we're here," he laughed. "This is like a movie set, damn near &#8212; sh-- you don't normally see with the launch of an album. This is pretty spectacular."</P><P><i>What are you expecting from Usher's next album? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>
